The beginning of a new year is a natural starting point for many things. And while it may seem cliché, it’s also too obvious and useful a milestone to ignore. So we here at Marketicity say lean into the cliché, let’s make the most of this new year being fresh in our minds and consider what it means for the coming twelve months, especially when it comes to your marketing goals.
Oftentimes the cyclical nature of month-in, month-out, quarter-in, quarter-out work can begin to steal decisions from you before you even consider it. “Of course we’re going to do this in February, we always do this February.” And sometimes that’s great and exactly what you need. Other times it gets in the way of fresh ideas, creative approaches, or updates to longstanding communication pieces.
So we encourage you at the start of this year to take some time to evaluate your marketing goals. Are there old strategies you are sticking with just because? Are there ideas that you have been meaning to get around to but can never seem to find the time? Is there a new medium or platform you’ve been wanting to try out, but haven’t gotten around to it? Try to take that time. Even if it’s just a few hours here or there, brainstorm new initiatives or ideas for the year. It could be that you go through that process and find out that you’re exactly on target. Or, as is often the case, you could realize that there are some opportunities to grow, change, or update strategies.
